The complex of the watermill Heiligenrode near Bremen in Germany
The complex of the watermill

Coming along the "mill dike" you will meet a complex of buildings (more than 150 years old) which under high old trees form a picturesque entrance to the village.

This complex of the watermill used to be part of the Benedictine monastery founded 1182 at Heiligenrode. Due to the successful measures of preserving an environment of buildings, meadows, brooks, and ponds it keeps the history of this place alive. Maintaining these historic buildings renders a vivid example of what preservation of historic monuments means according to the Law of Protection of Monuments in Lower Saxony.
