The Fellowship of the Watermill Heiligenrode
Since 1986 there exists the Fellowship of the Watermill Heiligenrode.
A group of 10 volunteers of all age groups in cooperation with the community
of Stuhr have undertaken to restore and maintain all technical devices of the
Monastery Mill. Thus a fully intact and operational watermill can be demonstrated
and explained to visitors in a knowledgeable manner.
In 1995 the Fellowship of the Watermill Heiligenrode received a prize
for exemplary restoration of the monastery mill by the Niedersächsische
Sparkassenstiftung. For this prize a Little Mill with a set of natural
grinding stones was bought, driven by electric power, whilst the old mill
is driven by water energy.
